Urban Hotel
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Situated in the heart of a metropolis downtown (Location Withheld), the Urban Hotel is a 17 story, 325 key boutique hotel. Formally, the hotel responds to the varying scales of the surrounding area by visually braking the podium from the guest room tower revealing a lower roof deck and gardens.
At the street level, the podium levels are organized with restaurants and bars located at the edges. A void in the geometry at the top of the tower provides a covered outdoor dining area and an adjacent deck with panoramic views of Downtown and Midtown. The hotel program includes retail car rental, a restaurant, rooftop lounge, and 7,500 SF of meeting and banquet spaces. Project developed under Blur Workshop.
PROJECT ROLE:
Under the limited time to develop this project’s Schematic Design package for the professional competition, I had the primary responsibility on various fronts for this project’s development. I generated numerous site and zone analysis that permitted us to understand our design criteria from the environment, I then brought digital models and hand sketches to add to the team discussion as we explore architectural concepts to develop. 3D modeling and design development was an iterative process culminating in the production of a physical model, were its major components were produced in a 3D printer while details and textures were added with different materials being laser cut.
